Andreas Mikkelsen is back in the WRC and are looking forward for his first event in the C3 WRC with Citroën Total Abu Dhabi WRT at Rally Italia Sardegna this weekend.
The 27-year-old have been waiting all year to be back in a WRC car. He is very happy that it finally is happening.
- I’m super happy to be back in a WRC-car again. Ive been waiting for that all year. At the same time Sardegna is a very challenging event, and my previous results are not the best. Last year we were on course for a good position, when we hit a rock that took away the possibility for a podium position, Andreas says.
Even though Rally Italia Sardegna is an event were the Norwegian have no podiums, it is an event that he enjoys and likes really well.
- The roads are narrow and there are plenty of rocks hidden in the sandy surface, which we experience last year. You need to keep your eyes open, and especially when you start far behind as we do this time. But we have a good start position for the first day and we plan to make the most of it.
Although he is a driver in the top end of the WRC, Andreas has no plan about being up there and fight with the top-drivers on this event.
- For us it’s a brand new car and team, so its going to be something of a challenge. We had one test day, but the car is quite different from the Skoda, which is the car I have been driving lately. But I had a good feeling after the test, and Im hoping its enough to quickly get into the rhythm and finish off in style.
All the best,
