Rally Turkey podium

Hyundai Motorsport driver Andreas Mikkelsen and co-driver Anders Jaeger-Amland finished 3rd at Rally Turkey, their third podium this year, and they also climbed to 4th in the Championship’s Driver Standings. – It’s been a really good weekend for us, we have been fast and stayed away from problems, Andreas said after the podium ceremony.

Rally Turkey is the roughest rally on the calendar, but it’s also one of Andreas’ strongest event. This he proved already from the start when he claimed the fastest stage time on the opening stage and continued with the same pace on Friday. He ended Friday in 5th, after loosing time on a tyre-choice. Strong performance, consistency and being fast saw him climb the overall classification on Saturday, to finish 3rd on Sunday.

- I’m happy with our third! It got a bit challenging on Friday afternoon when our tyre-choice didn’t work as planned, but we managed to take some big steps and get back on pace during the Saturday. We definitely have the pace on our first run through the stages, but still struggling with too much tyre-wear on the second pass. This we need to work more on! Overall, though, we can be happy with this third place. We’ve taken a decent haul of points for the team, which is most important!

Sebastien Ogier won Rally Turkey, while Team-EVEN colleague Esapekka Lappi took second. Tanak, Neuville, Latvala and Meeke all got to experience how rough Rally Turkey can be to tyres and car early in the weekend, which put them out of the title-fight.

Rally Tyrkia 2019 overall classification:
1 Ogier
2 Lappi +34,7
3 Mikkelsen +1.04,5
4 Suninen +1.35,1
5 Sordo +2.25,9
6 Latvala +2.59,1

All the best,

Andreas
